So, having thought about trying Red bare foot, and after lots of research about diet and management, I decided they would come off this weekend. Red obviously agrees with me as he removed one himself in the field, such a helpful boy :-)
I am starting to slowly introduce his new low sugar/starch diet of coolstance, alfalfa pellets and purabeet and I have his new hoof boots at the ready, just incase he needs a bit of extra help.
I have lots of photos and some video of before and after shoes, I just need to work out how to upload them.
I took Red in the school to lead him round on a better surface, he was quite spritly and was walking really well. I let him go loose, as I didn't want to be in the way of his hoofs again...just incase!
He strutted, trotted and cantered around the school for 35 mins and looked amaizing.
Feeling positive :-)
