All change...(again)

It is our 6 week barefoot anniversary today and for the first time I would say Red is a little 'footy' :-( a lot has changed in the last week. Due to the field getting too muddy he has had to move to Wilmington. He is now in over night and out during the day. He is on ad lib hay so I have reduce the copra to 1/4 scoop and the alfalfa nuts to a couple of hands. He is striding out beautifully walking in from the field but seems to be feeling his feet walking round to the school. As so many things have changed it is hard to know if the new diet is not agreeing with him or if it is just the different ground. On the plus side he has been starting to work softly in the school, stretching long and low in walk, and we have even had a couple of trots (down the long side) and he is sound! :-) :-) :-)

It is a year ago tomorrow that he went to the vets to use their walker and begin some turnout after he had fractured his radius and had 4 months box rest. I can't believe where the year has gone. Sometimes it is hard to be patient but when I think about how quickly this last year has gone, hopefully I will be seeing massive changes before I know it.

I need to do more road work with him (if his comfort allows) to work his feet keeping them stimulated and wearing well. It really makes you think about how ALL of their body needs to have the time to get fit, not just muscles, heart and lungs.
